WILL OF AARON NEWTON LOWREY

Aaron Newton Lowrey was born in Lumpkin Co, Georgia to John Lowry and Mahala Minorey. He lived most of his life in DeKalb Co, Alabama however and died there in 1888, leaving a will. Below is a transcription of his will, written October 22, 1887 and proven October 2, 1888.

THE STATE OF ALABAMA
DEKALB COUNTY

The Last Will and Testament of Aaron N. Lowrey

I, A. N. LOWREY of said State and County aforesaid, being of sound mind and disposing memory, and being fully conscious of the uncertainty of life, and the certainty of death, Do make and publish this my last will and testament.

1st. I will my soul to God who gave it, and that my body be decently buried after my death.

2nd. I will that all my just debts be paid if any remain unpaid at the time of my death.

3rd. I will and bequest all my personal and real estate to my beloved unmarried daughters, Rhody Paralee LOWREY, and Emma Anna LOWREY, during their unmarried life, and if either one of them should marry, then the entire property shall revert to the unmarried daughter during her single existance. At her marriage or death, I will that all my property both personal and real shall be equally divided between each and all of my lawful heirs, viz. My sons, John Alva LOWREY and Cicero Walker LOWREY; the heirs of my daughter, Mary Hester RUSSELL, deceased; my daughter, Martha Allice KING; my son, David Rufus LOWREY; also, my two first mentioned daughters, Rhody Paralee LOWREY, and Emma Anna LOWREY. I also appoint C.W. LOWREY and D.R. LOWREY my lawful and legal executors to execute this my last will and testament, this 22nd day of October, A.D. 1887.

DeKalb County

I, L.L. COCHRAN, Judge of Probate of said County and said State do herby certify that on this 2nd day of October, 1888, the within Will of Aaron N. LOWREY, was duly proved before me to be the last will and testament of said testator, and with the proof thereof, was duly recorded in said office of said Judge of Probate in Record of Wills B, Pages 66 and 67.

Witness this October 2nd. 1888.
